The Faria WatchDog® 750VMS DB (Vessel Monitoring System) is a dual mode Iridium® Satellite (SBD) and Cingular (now at&t) GSM/GPRS platform designed to provide near real-time position reporting, and offers a cost-effective messaging, e-mail and Activity Code Declaration and Catch & Notification Forms reporting solution. The Faria WatchDog™ 750VMS DB is type certified as an MTU, E-MTU, by the National Marine Fishery Service for all fishery regions and is built to meet the demanding requirements of the commercial fishing industry.
The Faria WatchDog™ 750VMS DB uses the Short Burst Data (SBD) services of the Iridium® satellite network as a primary mode to send position reports. The Iridium® constellation consists of 66 low-earth orbit (LEO), cross-linked satellites plus 10 in-orbit back-up satellites. The constellation operates as a fully meshed network and is the largest commercial satellite constellation around the world. The WatchDog™ relies on Iridium® for global communications. In the unlikely event that Iridium® service is not available the WatchDog™ 750VMS DB defaults to GSM service provided by Cingular® Wireless.
The Faria VTERM™ display provides access to text messaging, Activity Code Declaration, Catch & Notification Forms and e-mails.
The Faria® VTERM™ is a Windows® CE™ based 7" WVGA TFT color display with an analog resistive touch screen. The VTERM™ uses the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) data service on the Cingular® GSM network as the primary channel for communications and defaults to the Iridium® satellite network if GPRS is not available. So no matter where you are the VTERM™ keeps you connected. Cingular® (now at&t) wireless is the largest wireless company in the US with more than 54 million subscribers and offers GSM/GPRS all across their service area.
